This box figurine has numerous references to famous racehorses. Under the hoof of one horse is a snail, which is a reference to the horse Escargot. The words “grease” and “tniap” refer to Grease Paint, a horse that used to run regularly in the Grand National. The cigar between the hind legs is in honor of the famous racer, Cigar. Early versions had black goggles on the jockeys. The mouse is between the elbows of the jockeys. Inside is a horseshoe. Hallmarks include ©, diamond, HBC logo, ed.#, and Pc.
