Peter’s annual Santas keep getting better. . .and bigger! The theme for this 10th Santa was suggested by collector Dolores Kingston, 2004 winner of the Design-A-Jest Contest. Dolores had imagined Santa piling on the pounds over Christmas - too many mince pies and sherry. Santa now stands on the bathroom scale, making a New Year’s resolution to lose 30 lbs. Unknown to him, one of his reindeer is sitting on the back of the scale. Santa holds “The Big Fat Diet Book” by R. Buckle (Fatty Arbuckle) and around his feet are boxes of slimming products: Colox, Bontril, Lipitor, GutGo, Didrex and Globox. Globox is, in fact, a large blue frog who appears in a computer game called Rayman, a favorite of Peter’s son. A pipe used for colonic irrigation is also by Santa’s feet. In his pocket is a book. The name Jamie Oliver is partially visible, along with the number 15. Oliver is a celebrated chef in Britain and his restaurant is named 15. The bookmark in the diet book is a Green & Black wrapper, Peter’s favorite chocolate.
