ABOUT THE ARTIST " PAUL CARDEW "
PAUL CARDEW MASTER TEAPOT MAKER Over the last fifteen years Paul Cardew has established himself its the world's Preeminent designer and producer of such collectable teapots. His fertile imagination and exceptional modelling skills have created an enormous catalogue of wonderful designs that have become the centerpiece of collections around the world.
His talents have also been widely recognized by museums art galleries and the British Tea Council for whom he designed a special range of teapots in the late 80's.
His obsession with producing ever more imaginative and intricate designs has remarkably not sent him "potty". His youthfulness and energy bear witness to the naturally reviving qualities of tea!
HANDMADE IN VICTORIAN SPLENDOR All Cardew teapots are handcrafted using exactly the same skills and techniques deployed by Josiah Wedgwood all those centuries ago.
Cardew pottery complements these time-honored practices, a converted 19th century farmhouse complex, set in deepest rural Devon near the historic city of Exeter.
Starting with the sculpting of fine details, then to three individual kiln firings, hand painting, and through to the final flourish of Paul Cardew's signature and a unique identification number on the base of each teapot our highly skilled workforce take eight painstaking days to complete each pot.
Many pieces are decorated with precious metal including 18ct gold and silver.
Our decorative teapots are obviously ill-suited for everyday use and therefore should not be used in microwaves or dishwashers
. In order to clean your teapot Wash its exterior gently with lukewarm water.
Look after our teapots and they will appreciate in value and indeed be appreciated by generations to come
